Sunrise Airways Closer to Expanding to Cuba

cubaSunrise Airways recently announced plans to expand its Western Caribbean route network this summer with the launch of new, regularly scheduled service from its hub in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to four cities in Cuba. Those four cities are Havana, Camaguey, Holguin and Santiago de Cuba.

The carrier, which has operated regular charter service to Holguin since November of 2013, was recently granted a formal designation by the Haitian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to operate the new routes.

News of Sunrise’s planned expansion to Cuba follows closely on the heels of the carrier’s June 2014 announcement of its first-ever scheduled passenger service between Port-au-Prince and Kingston, Jamaica, also slated for launch during the summer 2014 period.

Sunrise Airways is evaluating options to augment its fleet with new aircraft to operate on its new Cuba routes. An official launch date, as well as schedule and pricing information for the new Sunrise Airways flights will be announced in the coming weeks.
