The D Las Vegas Becomes Home to World’s First In-Casino Bitcoin ATM

The D HotelNot content with being the first casino to accept Bitcoin, The D Las Vegas is going one step further by housing the first in-casino Bitcoin ATM. The D has partnered with Robocoin to house the freestanding kiosks, which will integrate user-friendly software, bank grade hardware and security, and 100 percent Federal compliance capabilities.

Customers will be able to deposit money into their Bitcoin accounts, as well as exchange their bitcoins for cash. Bitcoins can be used as currency at the hotel’s front desk, The D’s gift shop or in any of its restaurants including: Joe Vicari’s Andiamo Italian Steakhouse, American Coney Island and The D Grill.

However, the hotel will not be able to accept Bitcoin payments for any of their casino offerings but Robocoin CEO Jordan Kelley, is doing his best to change that. “Robocoin has shared its industry-leading compliance measures with the Nevada Gaming Control Board…Last month, we demonstrated our capabilities in front of Congress and this month we’ll launch in the highly regulated state of Nevada. These are all signs of Bitcoin maturity and institutional acceptance.”

Co-owner and CEO of the D, Derek Stevens, sees this new addition to the casino as a step forward for both the hotel and Bitcoin. We’re proud to be the first casino property to accept Bitcoin and we’re excited to offer our customers the convenience of a Bitcoin ATM.” He added, “The D and Robocoin are both located in the growing high-tech hub of downtown Las Vegas, which made this a natural fit but we ultimately chose Robocoin because it is easy to use, extremely secure and one of the best brands in Bitcoin.”
