9. The First Ritz-Carlton Reserve in the Caribbean is Now Accepting Reservations

Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve announced this week that it is now accepting reservations for guest arrivals.

The eagerly anticipated $342 million, 115-key ocean front luxury resort located on the footprints of the former Laurance Rockefeller estate, a celebrated destination for more than 50 years, is set to open its doors to welcome clients on December 12.

“We are thrilled to unveil this magnificent sanctuary in time for the Holidays and 2013 season,” said Alejandro Helbling, general manager of Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, in a written release. “Our discriminating discerning customers will find Dorado Beach’s unspoiled natural beauty, heritage and world-class offerings exceptionally alluring, making it the perfect destination to debut the first Reserve in the Americas."

High season rates at the resort start at $1,600 per night, setting a new luxury benchmark for the Caribbean.

The Ritz-Carlton Reserve brand extension features signature, one-of-a-kind boutique resorts located in choice settings around the world, each with a distinctive personality and sense of place. Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is the second in this exclusive portfolio worldwide, joining Phulay Bay in Krabi, Southern Thailand.

Situated on three miles of Caribbean coastline with 1,400 acres, Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve includes 100 rooms and 14 one-bedroom suites, all directly on the beach, plus Su Casa, the original plantation hacienda renovated back to its original 1920's style to serve as a four-bedroom beachfront VIP villa.
