Abercrombie & Kent Announces New Marco Polo Journeys

Abercrombie & Kent has announced 10 new Marco Polo Journeys, now offering 22 itineraries in total, making it the largest portfolio of Marco Polo journeys the tour operators have ever offered.

Marco Polo Journeys, designed for the experienced traveler, are limited to an 18 guest maximum. The small group size is designed to allow insider-access opportunities only available to small groups, like private museum openings, visits in local homes and more one-on-one interaction with the group's Resident Tour Director, whose permanent residence is the tour location.

Tours are sorted into categories to help travelers choose the itinerary best suited for their interests. Types of tours include Palaces & Estates, Festivals & Events, Wilderness Adventures, Incredible Cultures and River & Rail.

Destinations new for 2017 include Papua New Guinea, Bolivia, Sri Lanka, India, the Philippines, Ethiopia and The Royal Portfolio in South Africa.

New in Palaces & Estates include Britain’s Great Stately Homes, The Royal Palaces of India and South Africa: The Royal Portfolio Edition. In the tour of Britain, guests will visit Alnwick Castle, a filming location of Downton Abbey. Also included in the trip is a behind the scenes tour and cocktail reception of the Duke of Devonshire’s Chatsworth House. This 11-day trip has two departures in September 2017, with rates starting at $12,495.

New in Festivals & Events is Papua New Guinea & the Mount Hagen Sing Sing Festival. Here guests can experience the Mount Hagen Cultural Show, complete with tribal song, dance, pageantry and tradition. Included in the tour is also a three-night cruise on the Sepik River through villages and rainforests. This 14-day excursion departs Aug 9 with rates starting at $11,995.

New in Wilderness Adventures is India Wildlife Safari: Lions, Tigers & Leopards. On this tour, guests will visit Gir National Park, the only remaining place on earth to see the Asiatic lion. The tour includes morning and afternoon game drives in Kanha and Bandaygarh National Parks, home to rare and exotic birds. The-14 day journey has departures in January, February, October and November with rates starting at $8,995.

New in Incredible Cultures includes Sri Lanka: Island of Temples & Trade Winds, Ethiopia: Historic Route & Simien Mountains; Peru, Bolivia & the Atacama: Across the Andes; Paris, Champagne & Alsace: Villages & Vineyards by Barge. In Sri Lanka, travelers will visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Dambulla Cave Temple and the Sigriya Rock Fortress. The 12-day tour has departures in March, October and November with rates starting at $10,995.

Gratuities, private arrival and departure transfers, a travelling bell-boy, mid-trip laundry service mid trip, internet access are included in all A&K tours.
