Abercrombie & Kent Offers New Antarctic Adventure for 2012-2013

Abercrombie & Kent has added a fourth departure to their 2012-2013 Antarctic season in response to the increasing interest for travel to Antarctica. Abercrombie & Kent has provided travel services to Antarctica for the past 20 years and has set the standard with the only all-balcony expedition ship in the region, the MV ‘Le Boreal’. The MV ‘Boreal’ is advanced in regards to its safety measures, with a GMDSS emergency communication system and a satellite weather system that receives real-time images of weather and ice conditions. It is also environmentally friendly with an up-to-date waste water system, recycling facilities and fuel-efficient engines.

Scott Wiseman, president of Abercrombie & Kent USA, LLC, said, “It’s a new generation of adventure cruising. The sleek, stylish and stable design of ‘Le Boreal’ has made the idea of a voyage to Antarctica much more appealing to travellers who might not have considered it before.”

The four voyages currently offered for Antarctica include: Classic Antarctica, Fighting Climate Change in Antarctica, Family Holiday - Antarctica, South Georgia & the Falkland Islands and Antarctica, South Georgia & the Falkland Islands. Shore excursions are lead by a team of naturalists, geologists, historians, marine biologists, ornithologists and photographers who provide hands-on guidance and commentary about the wildlife and natural terrain. The journeys also include pre- and post-cruise lodging and sightseeing in Santiago, charter flights to and from Ushuaia, on-board lectures, twice-daily shore excursions, boot rental, most drinks, and crew and staff gratuities.
