DISCOVER AFRICA ROADSHOW THIS SPRING

For those agents who would like to tackle selling the vast continent of Africa but don't know where to begin, the Association for Promotion of Tourism to Africa's (www.apta.biz) Discover Africa Road Show might be a good place to start. The biannual, four-city promotional tour takes place at the Museum of History and Industry in Seattle, presented by the Pacific Northwest Chapter, on March 4; the California African American Museum in Los Angeles, presented by the Los Angeles chapter, on March 6; the Phoenix Zoo, presented by the Arizona chapter, on March 10; and the Colorado Museum of History in Denver, presented by the Rocky Mountain club, on March 12. This event serves as a good way for agents to meet with representatives of various airlines, lodges, camps, hotels and tourist boards in Africa. South Africa to Host 2009 ASTA

International Destination Expo

Although it is a ways away, agents should mark their calendars for the ASTA International Destination Expo, which will be held in South Africa in 2009. The host country for the expo, which will run from March 8-12, 2009, at Sun City, a Sun International property, was a unanimous decision on the part of ASTA's Board of Directors. The main sponsors of the event will be South Africa Tourism (www.southafrica.net), South African Airways (www.flysaa.com) and Dragonfly Africa (www.dragonfly.co.za). As a bonus to go along with the event, South African Airways will offer special industry fares for International Destination Expo participants.
