Africa Travel Inc.'s Managing Director Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Dave Herbert, managing director of African Travel Inc., was honored April 6 with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Ubuntu Awards Ceremony, which was held at New York's Plaza Hotel. Herbert was honored with this award because of his notable contributions to tourism in South Africa.

Before coming to the U.S., Herbert had created the first overland tour company taking cruise ship passengers from Cape Town to Durban. In the 70s and 80s he spent his time building U.S. market share and developing lodges in South Africa, Botswana and Mozambique. He has also initiated job training programs for hundreds of unskilled workers, creating a workforce with an interest in preserving the natural habitat and wildlife.

African Travel Inc. continues to expand as a luxury wildlife safari company and as a designer of unique experiences such as yoga and spa treatments in the bush, cultural encounters, walking tours and safaris, wine tours and luxury train trips.
