Air Pacific to Rebrand as Fiji Airways

National airline Air Pacific will rebrand as Fiji Airways next year, the Fiji Times is reporting.

Company chief executive Dave Pflieger said that the brand Air Pacific was "not working, not recognizable, not notable and did not help the airline sell its tickets."

The decision to revert to the original name of the airline after 42 years was made following research indicating that on the Internet, the word "Fiji" drove more customers to buy, as opposed to the words "Air Pacific."

The airline will launch the Fiji Airways logo in July and in October its A330-200 cabin design.

Early next year, the airline will introduce its "Fiji Airways" brand at ticket offices, check-in counters, website and advertising. The new aircraft will display the Fiji Airways name and livery when they arrive next year.
