Airtran, JetBlue Boost Tampa-San Juan Service

san juan puerto ricoAirTran Airways and JetBlue are separately launching daily, nonstop flights from Tampa in Florida to San Juan in Puerto Rico, collectively boosting air service between the two destinations.

AirTran's service goes into effect April 5, 2011, joining the route between San Juan and Orlando. Daily flights depart Tampa at 7:30 a.m. and 3:24 p.m., and arrive in San Juan at 10:20 a.m. and 6:14 p.m., respectively. Return service leaves Puerto Rico at 11:05 a.m. and 6:59 p.m., and land in Florida at 2:10 p.m and 10:04 p.m., respectively.

JetBlue expansion of daily, nonstop service to San Juan from Tampa will take off in May 2011, with a second flight beginning in June 2011. This new route to Florida's second-largest city continues JetBlue's steady expansion in Puerto Rico from the island's three main airports. From Aguadilla, Ponce, and San Juan, JetBlue offers service to destinations on the U.S. mainland including Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, New York, Tampa, plus intra-Caribbean service to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Though no official schedule of flights have been released just yet, tickets for JetBlue's new Tampa - San Juan route will go on sale at www.jetblue.com in October. With up to 19 daily departures from San Juan, the city is among JetBlue's top 10 most-served destinations.
