The island of Bonaire, a municipality of the Netherlands located off Venezuela’s coast in the southern Caribbean, has announced that it will host its tenth annual Wounded Warrior Trip, August 15 - 22.
During the event, selected American soldiers with service-related challenges will travel to Bonaire where they can scuba dive and explore the reefs and dive sites.
“It is always a pleasure to welcome a new group of warriors," said Malinda Hassell, marketing manager for Tourism Corporation Bonaire. "At the end of the week, you can see the positive effects of their vacation in Bonaire; they are relaxed and are already talking about when they can return to the island."
Bonaire also works closely with DEMA's "Be A Diver" program to identify and bring soldiers to the island each year. Currently, more than 100 "Wounded Warriors" and their companions have participated in the event.
