Cancun's Beaches Are Officially Restored

The Mexican government has declared Cancun's beaches officially restored after damage caused late last year by Hurricane Wilma. The final 7.25 miles of sand between Punta Cancun and Punta Nizuc was completed before the April 30 deadline set by President Vicente Fox. Cancun city leaders say they are using the rebuilding effort as an opportunity to revitalize Cancun's image and spruce up beaches that were damaged by years of unchecked erosion.
