Canyons Resort in Park City, Utah to Open This Friday

Canyons Resort in Park City, Utah will open this Friday, November 25, with a host of enhancements both on the slopes and for families looking for new winter activities.

On the slopes, the resort plans to debut its new Orange Bubble Express chair lift and Ski Beach gathering area. Iron Mountain in the southern section of the resort will include a new detachable quad lift, providing guests with access to an additional 300 acres of northwestern-facing skiing and snowboarding terrain. The 10 runs in this area range from intermediate to expert to gladed tree skiing. Additional expert terrain is also available on new north-facing runs in the Iron Mountain and Condor Woods, which offer diverse tree skiing. Expanded snowmaking will increase early coverage of Lookout Ridge and runs served by the Orange Bubble Express chair lift.

For families, the resort also plans to offer a bevy of new winter activities to help take a break from skiing. The Kids Winter Activity Zone offers snow-castle building, ice forts, ice bowling, chances to meet the resort’s search and rescue dogs and s’mores under the stars. While ziplines have traditionally been an off-season activity, new Winter Zip Tour Adventures feature two zip lines, one that stretches across the canyon between Lookout Peak and Red Pine Lodge and one that travels through the treetops of the Red Pine area. The resort has also expanded its snowshoeing program, allowing guests to experience the Wasatch Mountains in the company of a local guide. A gourmet lunch is provided in the Lookout Cabin. In Canyons’ Resort Village, families can enjoy new programming, such as movies under the stars, sleigh rides and dog sledding, concerts and, during the holidays, carolers and snowman-making competitions.

The resort also plans to expand its dining options with a new seating area in gastropub Umbrella Bar and a new family-friendly Southwestern menu at the Red Tail Grill. Both of these restaurants are from the Talisker Restaurant Collection, which also created resort favorite The Farm and, new this December, the Slopes by Talisker restaurant at the nearby Waldorf Astoria Park City.
