CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa is a beachfront European Plan resort in the Marina Vallarta complex, five minutes from Puerto VallartaInternationalAirport and near championship golf courses.

"We've developed new integrated packages to respond to different consumer preferences like, spa, golf, romance and family," says Dennis Whitelaw, general manager of CasaMagna. "We've even created a Tequila CasaMagna Package—an introduction to the tequila culture in Mexico." Guests at the resort won't have to go very far to immerse themselves in tequila culture—the resort has 117 different by-the-glass tequilas. Special Spa Package

Whitelaw notes that 14 percent of the resort's business comes from retail travel agents, and 23 percent from agents booking through a wholesaler. Seventy percent of the resort's business is from the U.S., and the repeat rate is around 50 percent. Whitelaw recommends agents book 30 to 90 days in advance; for Easter and Christmas, 90 to 120 days out.

The new Ohtli Spa offers treatments utilizing Huichol tribal tradition. The space comprises 12 multi-functional treatment rooms, relaxation lounges with hydrotherapy circuits, a free-form pool designed for various hydrotherapies, gym, beauty salon and boutique. The Ohtli gym has plasma screens on all equipment, an indoor pool and fitness classes ranging from Hatha Yoga, Boot Camp and Cardio Box to outdoor activities such as the Sunrise Walk, Sierra Madre Botanical Walk and horseback riding.

The spa's signature treatment is the Agave Syrup, Cornmeal and Sea Salt Scrub, which incorporates agave azul grown and harvested on property.

Ohtli Spa also has a juice bar offering a variety of alcohol-free agave nectar juices as well as iced teas infused with the native Hibiscus flower. The spa's signature drink "Agua de amor," is based on "The Messages from Water" theories developed by Japanese researcher Dr. Masaru Emoto. The drink is prepared in a special dispenser containing pink crystal quartz; the dispenser also has the word "love" written on it in 13 languages. A standout feature at the spa is the Iyari Grand Luxury Suite, a 280-square-foot private room designed for couples, small groups or celebrities seeking anonymity.

A variety of Specialty Weeks are scheduled at the spa; these include hotel accommodations, spa services and a wellness lecture series. The resort can take spa reservations up to one year in advance for both groups and individual travelers through their SPA SOFT system. Agents can contact Roselia Flandes, Ohtli spa director, at [email protected].

The CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa has 433 guest rooms, including 29 suites, each with a private balcony. In addition to the spa, new developments in 2007 include an enlarged business center, and renovations to La Estancia restaurant.

CasaMagna has travel industry rates available all year. "And on top of this, during shoulder season, we offer discounted Marriott's FAMtastic Rate for all travel agents," says Whitelaw.

The travel agent liaison at Casa-Magna is Sharon Dayan, tour and travel sales manager, Marriott CasaMagna Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa. She can be reached at 322 226 00 06 or [email protected].
