United Continental Holdings, Inc. Friday announced Continental Airlines will begin nonstop flights between its New York hub, Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey and Port-Au-Prince, Haiti on June 9, subject to government approval.
Initially flights will operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, converting to daily service on July 1.
The roughly four-hour flight (CO703) will depart Newark at 9:25 a.m., arriving in Port-Au-Prince at 12:15 p.m. The return flight (CO704) will depart Port-Au-Prince at 1:20 p.m., arriving in Newark at 6:15 p.m. Continental will utilize a Boeing 737-800 for the new service, with seating for 160 passengers (16 in first class and 144 in economy).
