Continental Airlines has named John Slater managing director of the Latin America region, which includes the Caribbean. Slater's region represents more than half of Continental's international destinations. He fills the post in January, replacing Pete Garcia, who is retiring after 30 years of service with the airline. Previously, Slater worked as Continental's managing director of distribution planning and electronic commerce, managing the development and design of the airline's web site, as well as forming its global distribution strategy.
