The Cool Pool of the Week: Las Lagunas Boutique Hotel in Guatemala

Millennials planning to stay at Las Lagunas Boutique Hotel in Guatemala can cool off from the heat of the jungle on the property’s pool deck area.

Featuring a half moon-shaped infinity pool that overlooks the Quexil Lagoon, the pool deck is surrounded by the greenery of the Peten Jungle where the howls of the howler monkeys hidden in the trees, along with other sounds of the jungle, make for a great soundtrack to relax to. With a focus on blending in with its natural environment, the pool was designed around a Pucte tree - a focal point of the view.

Clients can unwind on comfortable couches and reclining chairs placed in and outside of the pine green hued pool, meant to resemble the aesthetic of the jungle. Those who prefer a dip under the moonlight can indulge in a late night swim during the evenings — and then warm up in the jacuzzis of their private suites after.

The pool area is adjacent to a full bar with service available throughout the day. Poolside food service with bites from Shultun, the hotel’s in house restaurant, is available daily (including full menu items). The pool bar opens and closes at the same time as the restaurant — from 6:30 am to 9:30 pm.

Signature drinks include the Basil Lemonade —  a delightful concoction of freshly squeezed lime juice and fresh basil sprigs blended in with water and crushed ice. It’s a refreshing poolside drink that the staff can take up a notch with a splash of your client's favorite spirit.

The pool deck area can be reserved for any kind of special event as long as they are buying out the hotel. Events hosted in the past in this area include wedding receptions, birthdays, meetings and group parties, and special brand functions — the last one being an event for the Red Bull brand.

Las Lagunas Boutique Hotel will be adding a second swimming pool to the property, which will be located at their soon-to-debut full-service spa. Once completed, the swimming pool will be available for all guests of the spa.

Located near the ruins of Tikal, Uaxactun and Yaxha in Northern Guatemala, Las Lagunas Boutique Hotel is spread across more than 300 acres of private reserve. The property offers a blend of luxury and eco- tourism, with 19 bungalow suites, the in-house Shultun restaurant, a museum and group meeting space. Millennials can also enjoy eco-adventure activities including trekking, bird watching trails, kayaking and 4X4 ATV tours through the jungle.
