Sailors from around the globe are preparing to make their way to St. Maarten to take part in the 31st Annual St. Maarten Regatta. The traditional three-day event, scheduled for March 3-6, will kick-off the racing season with the post-regatta Gill Commodores Cup, a one-day match racing series prior to the Heineken Regatta.
Over the years the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta has become an international phenomenon and a one-of-a-kind world-class sailing festival boasting musical performances and parties that have attracted tens of thousands of sailors and sailing fans over the years. The regatta features a mix of round-the-buoys contests and point-to-point destination races against the backdrop of the sensational coastal views of St. Maarten.
From the cafés in Marigot and the pubs in Phillipsburg, to the barbecues along beaches, St. Maarten has something for everyone. The island has it all from boutique hotels and high-rise resorts to upscale casinos, marinas and some of the best nightlife in the Caribbean.
Every night of the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta is a veritable battle of the bands, and the three-day celebration culminates with an awards ceremony on Sunday night.
