Regent Hotels Resorts has appointed Philip Mahoney general manager of the 209-room Regent Esplanade Zagreb, which was recently named Croatia’s only five diamond property for the second year running.

Mahoney brings over 20 years of hospitality experience to his new position at The Regent Esplanade Zagreb. He recently served as general manager of Scottish luxury hotel De Vere Cameron House, Loch Lomond, and the Radisson Blu Glasgow, where he was named Scottish Hotel Manager of the Year (2006) and the property honored as Hotel of the Year (2007) in the annual Scottish Hotel Awards.

His luxury hospitality experience also includes management positions with Le Grand Gaube Hotel Resort, Mauritius; and the Malmaison Hotel, Manchester, UK. A British national, Mahoney is a graduate of the University of Kent, UK.

An original stop on the legendary Orient Express, The Regent Esplanade Zagreb offers four lounge and dining options; flexible meetings facilities; and luxury amenities including a personal shopper at the city’s international designer boutiques, exclusive “VID: Very Important Dog” pet services, and limousine tours of the nearby countryside and vineyards, among others.

Regent hotels in Europe also include The Regent Grand Hotel Bordeaux and The Regent Berlin. The Regent Esplanade Zagreb will soon be joined by a fellow Croatia property, The Regent Dubrovnik (2010).
