Taking place in the Collector’s fortress, the ride was developed by some of the creative mind behind the comic books, film and Walt Disney Imagineering. The ride will occupy the space that currently houses The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which will celebrate its final “drop day” in early January. When the Guardians of the Galaxy ride opens, the free fall will be complemented by new audio and visual effects, and multiple, random and unique ride profiles will see the ride gantry rise and fall to the beat of music inspired by the film’s soundtrack.

Plans call for the new attraction to “anchor a broader universe of Super Heroes that will grow over time in Disney California Adventure Park,” according to the press release announcing the project.
