Walt Disney Parks and Resorts announced a series of initiatives Wednesday, including new rides and attractions and a new marketing and branding campaign to roll out in October. Disney is opening two rides and a musical based on the hit movie, Finding Nemo, over the next year. They include Finding Nemo–The Musical (late 2006, the Magic Kingdom); The Seas with Nemo and Friends (Epcot, late 2006); and the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage (Disneyland, summer 2007). The company also plans a retooling of the iconic Space Mountain ride, combining a rock n' roll component to the long-standing attraction; and in early 2007 "The Laugh Floor Comedy Club," a riff on the plot of the hit movie Monsters, Inc, will open at its Orlando Walt Disney World Resort. The marketing campaign, dubbed "The Year of a Million Dreams," will empower Disney employees to dole out special gifts and awards to park visitors over the next year. One family, for instance, will get the Magic Kingdom all to themselves for an entire day; another will get to stay overnight in the Magic Kingdom's Cinderella Castle. On the cruise front, Disney Cruise Line is heading to Europe next year with 10- and 11-day Mediterranean cruises departing from Barcelona. Its trans-Atlantic voyage departs Port Canaveral, FL May 12, 2007 and returns from Barcelona August 18.
