The Modern Contemporary Art Museum has been announced for Downtown Las Vegas.
The two-acre site will be dedicated to visual arts and design. The new museum is one of three components of a progressive cultural center that will showcase art, technology and design in addition to providing training and tools for artists and designers. The three components will be The Modern Contemporary Art Museum, the Center for Creativity and Luminous Park, an outdoor sculpture garden and community gathering space.
A $29 million capital campaign for the project is underway, and the project has already received $2.4 million in land and cash donations.
The project is the latest in a series of big changes for Las Vegas' downtown area. Just recently, the area got a new hotel, the Downtown Grand. Additionally, the new Fremont Street Experience offers live shows and festivals, as well as Slotzilla (at 11 stores, the world's largest slot machine).
