Dusseldorf is Germany's Hidden Gem

Dusseldorf is quickly becoming a hot spot for tourism. The region is reporting that foreign tourism has grown by 9.2 percent, with travelers from the U.S. and Canada increasing by 22 percent, according to a study released by the State Office of Statistics.

The first six months of 2010 brought over 1.7 million foreign visitors. This can be attributed to the city's metamorphosis from a city of industry to one of culture, sights and festivals. The statistics show that Dusseldorf is blossoming as an international leisure destination, now ranking number six on a global list of cities with the highest quality of living, according to Mercer's 2010 Quality of Life Survey.
