Düsseldorf Welcomes Annual Summer Fair

This year, Düsseldorf, Germany will continue to host the annual Rheinkirmes, also referred to as the “Biggest Fun Fair on the Rhine.” The summer festival is an all-day outdoor fair and beer fest, taking place over a nine-day span from July 15-24.

The Rheinkirmes began 500 years ago as a local club celebration and has since transformed into a major international summer destination for family travel. Last year, the fair attracted 4 million visitors, with an average of more than 400,000 visitors per day.

During these nine days in July, the town of Düsseldorf will be transformed into 42 acres of tents featuring local cuisine and world-famous Alt brew, as well as a temporary amusement park comprised of state-of-the-art rides.

On the last Friday of the fair, visitors can enjoy a parade of 3,000 marchers in uniforms and on horseback, orchestra performances and a huge firework display to cap off the night and complete the German fair experience.
