Düsseldorf Will Get New Capella Hotel

Capella Hotels and Resorts will debut its new Breidenbacher Hof in Düsseldorf, Germany on May 19. The hotel, which opened originally in 1812, has undergone several incarnations (including reconstruction following its demolition in World War II). Its owners, Pearl of Kuwait Real Estate, began construction in 2006 on an entirely new Breidenbacher Hof on the hotel’s original site, which is located on the famous Königsallee.

The new nine-story building will have 95 guest rooms, including 16 suites, a restaurant, a boutique spa with pool and fitness center, high-end retailers, including Escada and Hugo Boss and 18 serviced residential apartments.

Capella Hotels and Resorts is the company led by hotelier Horst Schulze, who has opened other hotels under the brand in Ireland and Austria. Six other Capella Hotels and Resorts are scheduled to open in 2008 and early 2009, in locations including Singapore, Mexico and the United States.
