Looking for the best beach in Ixtapa? The Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo CVB has awarded El Palmar beach with the Blue Flag certificate, which promotes sustainable development by applying strict standards in quality of water, environmental education and management, and safety among other categories. To date, the Blue Flag has been awarded to beaches and marinas in 41 countries, but only five Mexican beaches boast this title.
"The Blue Flag certification marks a very important accomplishment for Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo and the State of Guerrero because it shows the community's commitment to sustainable tourism and providing the best quality of service to our visitors," says Angel Aguirre Rivero, Governor of the State of Guerrero.
