Heavy snowfall in the Rocky Mountains has prompted the early launch of operations by EpicQuest and Sun Valley Heli Ski Guides. EpicQuest has opened its entire 750,000-acre ski area in Idaho for skiing and snowboarding 10 days earlier than expected.
Skiers and snowboarders can take part in a day of heli-skiing (up to seven runs) including lunch and hotel transfers from $1,100. For those with more time on the slopes, the Escape package bundles in two days of heli-skiing in the mountains surrounding Sun Valley, one day skiing at Sun Valley Resort and four nights lodging from $3,200. The Classic Sun Valley package includes five nights at the historic Sun Valley Lodge, two days of heli-skiing and two day passes at Sun Valley Resort from $4,750.
Guests can stay at the Smoky Mountain Lodge, the only fly-in heli-ski lodge in the Lower 48 states, offers a more private experience just west of Sun Valley. While guests can tear up the untracked snow in the surrounding mountains by day, they return to the six-bedroom lodge at night and meals prepared by a private chef. Packages start at $4,800.
