Exploring Peru for a Cause This Summer

Macchu PicchuLlama Expeditions, a Peruvian touring company, will honor mother’s day by donating $100 per person on bookings made in May 2013 for travel in Peru, before May 2014.

The company offers guests an immersive experience aimed at educating them on Peruvian culture and offering personal insights into the dredge of challenges facing the poverty stricken country.

The donations go to Living Heart, a non-profit organization dedicated to healing mothers and their children in some of the most disease and malnutrition ridden highland comminutes of Peru’s Sacred Valley region.

Guests who travel in this region with Llama Expeditions always stop at the Hearts Café in Ollantaytambo.  All proceeds from the café go to support Living Heart’s projects to supply vitamins, medicines, dental, medical and school supplies to Peruvians in need.

To understand the impact their donations can make, guests are invited to see Living Heart’s Wish list, which includes the cost of various supplies and services.  For example, a $98 donation gives one child hot breakfast and lunch every school day for a year.

A host of trips qualify for the donation, with routes exploring popular attractions such as Macchu Picchu and the Inca Trail by foot, horseback, or train.
