Lufthansa's first Boeing 747-8 aircraft will begin flight operation on June 1. "The Queen of the Skies" will operate six flights per week on the Frankfurt-Washington route.
Four more Jumbo jets are scheduled to join the fleet over the next few months, increasing the number of destinations serviced. By late summer, 747-8 flights will be offered to Chicago, Los Angeles, Delhi, and Bangalore.
Lufthansa has improved its Business Class with added storage space, an enhanced in-flight entertainment system, and seats which convert to beds measuring 6.6 feet in length with the push of a button.
The 747-8 generates 30 percent less noise footprint and will bring double-digit improvements in fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions per passenger than its predecessor, the 747-400.
Lufthansa's website is featuring a contest with the chance to win two tickets on the Boeing 747-8.
