Breckenridge Ski Resort in Colorado has announced the start of its "First Tracks Fridays" program this Friday, December 13. This program will allow guests staying at the official lodging properties of Breckenridge Ski Resort to get exclusive early on-mountain skiing and riding access one hour before the resort opens to the public every Friday morning throughout the 2013/14 winter ski season.
The start of the program comes after a round of good weather for ski resorts in the Western United States. A series of snowstorms have allowed resorts in California, Colorado and Utah to open new terrain for the season.
Many Colorado ski resorts are either already open for the season or are set to open soon. Below is a list of opening dates from Colorado Ski Country.
At Breckenridge, Beaver Run SuperChair on Peak 9 will open early each Friday morning, providing first tracks access to guests staying over Thursday nights at official Breckenridge Hospitality lodging properties (The DoubleTree by Hilton Breckenridge, Mountain Thunder Lodge, One Ski Hill Place, Crystal Peak Lodge and The Village at Breckenridge).
No special lodging package purchase is required, but participants must be guests of Breckenridge Hospitality at the times the weekly events occur, and must also hold a valid Breck lift ticket or season pass in order to ride the lifts early. Guests will receive their exclusive credential to gain access to the First Tracks events upon check-in at their hotel.
This opportunity is only available to skiers or riders of intermediate or expert level ability, as only blue and black-rated runs are accessible via the Beaver Run SuperChair.
New at Breckenridge This Season
This year will be the inaugural season for the opening of Breckenridge’s newest peak, Peak 6. The opening of Peak 6 represents the largest ski area terrain expansion in the past decade, and the first at Breckenridge since the Peak 7 expansion in 2002. The new terrain will be opened based on snowfall and more specific dates will be released as the season progresses. Watch a video preview of the new area above.
