The Our Lucaya Beach & Golf Resort announced today the appointment of former Bahamas Ministry of Tourism official Steven R. Johnson to the position of Account Executive.
From his base in Ontario, Johnson will direct the resort’s promotional efforts aimed at increasing visitor arrivals from Canada.
A native of Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, where Our Lucaya is based, Johnson served as director, convention and event sales for Tourism Saskatoon immediately prior to joining the Our Lucaya team. He is also the former managing director of A Winning Solution, an Ontario-based marketing representation company. Johnson is best known in the travel industry, though, for his 22-year tenure with the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.
Starting initially as a trainer in 1986, Johnson ascended through the ranks quickly, holding progressively higher positions within the Ministry’s sales and marketing department in Grand Bahama and Canada. He achieved his most senior position with the Ministry, that of senior regional marketing manager for Canada, in 2006, a position he held for two years. Notably, Johnson spearheaded a 20-percent increase in stayover visitor arrivals from Canada to The Bahamas in 2007.
