Recently Mauricio Aceves, director of sales and marketing, and Erika Mitzunaga, director of public relations for the Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun stopped by Travel Agent’s New York offices to update us from the latest at the resort.
This year the resort launched a new commission program for travel agents. As part of the Fiesta Americana Resort Collection’s Agent Cash Incentive program, the resort offers travel agents direct payment of a 10 percent commission upon booking. Additionally, through December 18, the resort is offering agents another 10 percent commission on their clients’ spa services and F&B purchases posted to their folios.
To take advantage of the incentive, agents must register for the brand’s recently-launched portal at http://fiestamericanaresorts.com/TravelAgents, where they can register their reservations. The incentive applies to all bookings regardless of source, including from wholesalers and via GDS.
New Kids Club
In terms of new property updates, this December will mark the rollout of the second phase of the resort’s new Coral KidZ Club, which will consist of a new outdoor play area with a Mayan-themed sand- and water-filled play zone. Spanning 5,166 square feet, the new area will offer young guests a chance to dig for fossils that can be assembled into a dinosaur sculpture, or climb a Mayan Temple with slides and pools of water and soft sand. Other water features will include a large wading pool surrounded by water fountains and waterfalls.
The indoor portion of the new Coral KidZ Club opened last year. With zones dedicated to individual age groups, children ages three to five can play in city-, park- or jungle-themed areas, while tweens can play Xbox and Wii games in the computer zone, or play an interactive game aimed at helping children learn about Mayan culture. An Open Play Theater offers a stage with a digital backdrop, curtains, a light-up dance floor and a backstage dressing room with costumes, make-up and dressing mirrors. There is also an arts and crafts area with views of the ocean.
