Harrah's Halts Completion Of Octavius Tower in Vegas

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Harrah's Entertainment will delay the completion of Caesars Palace's sixth tower due to a decrease in demand for rooms. The 600 rooms in the new Octavius Tower were scheduled to be completed by mid-summer. A new date hasn't been set and will depend on a period of stronger demand. Construction of the exterior of the hotel will continue.

Once a decision has been reached to resume construction, it's predicted that the rooms can be made available within several months. Las Vegas occupancy numbers were 79.2 percent in November, a 7.7 point drop from the same time last year.
