Hawaiian Airlines Releases March Numbers

Good news for Hawaiian Airlines: The company scored the highest rankings in both on-time performance and fewest flight cancellations in March, according to the monthly Air Travel Consumer Report issued recently by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).

More than 90 percent of the airline's flights arrived on time during March, with only one flight cancellation out of 5,453 total flights. This marked the sixth consecutive month that Hawaiian has been the top-ranked carrier in both categories.

In addition, Hawaiian secured the industry’s second highest-ranking at taking care of customers’ luggage in March, with the filing of 1.65 mishandled baggage reports for every 1,000 passengers served. Hawaiian also finished second overall in the first quarter with 1.83 reports per 1,000 passengers.

The DOT also ranked Hawaiian second overall nationally in fewest oversales, or passengers denied boarding, for the first quarter, with a score of 0.14 percent for every 10,000 passengers carried (oversales results are reported quarterly).
