Hilton to Expand in Istanbul

Hilton Worldwide today announced the signing of a management agreement with IC Bomonti Uluslararasi Kongre Turizm Yatirimlari Ticaret A.Ş to open an upscale hotel and conference center in Istanbul's Sisli district. The Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel & Conference Center will be adjacent to the former Bomonti Beer Factory, which is currently undergoing restoration to become the focal point of a new visitor hub with extensive entertainment, dining and retail facilities; as well as a museum and arts center.

This latest Turkish hotel signing is the latest in local developments for Hilton Worldwide in Istanbul, which now has six hotels across four brands, including the historic Hilton Istanbul which opened its doors in 1955 and the Conrad Istanbul which is currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, Europe & Africa, Hilton Worldwide, said that the property is set to be the largest hotel under development in the city by number of rooms and size of meeting space, and that he expects the hotel to attract new international conference business to the city. "Our pipeline in Turkey [has] 41 hotels either trading or under development."

The hotel and conference center will be located in a newly built tower, spanning 35 floors and offering views across the European side to Asia. The hotel will have 829 bedrooms and suites, an executive lounge and spa and fitness facilities including an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. Dining options will include an all-day restaurant, lobby bar and roof top bar.

Turkey is a strategic development market for Hilton Worldwide and the brand has seen multiple openings in the last few years, with new additions including DoubleTree by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton by Hilton. Hilton Worldwide recently opened its first dual branded property in Turkey, Hilton Bursa Hotel & Convention Center and Hampton by Hilton Bursa, as well as Hampton by Hilton Ordu marking the growing presence of its economy brand in regional locations.
