Hilton Worldwide Plans to Double its Presence in Peru

The Hilton Lima Miraflores

Hilton Worldwide has announced it will more than double its presence in Peru over the next three years with the development of seven new properties across four brands: Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites by Hilton, DoubleTree by Hilton and Hampton by Hilton.

These new deals underscore the company’s rapid growth in Latin America, where Hilton Worldwide has been aggressively expanding, now with more than 90 hotels and 15,500 rooms open and welcoming guests across the region. Furthermore, this growth aided Hilton Worldwide in entering its 100th country in 2015.

Hilton Garden Inn, DoubleTree by Hilton, Hampton by Hilton and Homewood Suites by Hilton will each have a presence in Peru by the end of 2019. Properties set to open include Hilton Garden Inn Lima Surco, which is set to open in the third quarter of 2016; the DoubleTree by Hilton Iquitos, which is set to open in the first quarter of 2017; Hampton by Hilton Tarapoto, which is set to open in the third quarter of 2017; the Hampton by Hilton Trujillo, which is set to open in the fourth quarter of 2018; the Hilton Garden Inn Lima Miraflores, which is set to open in the second quarter of 2019; and the Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites by Hilton Lima San Isidro, which is a dual-branded hotel that is set to open in the second quarter of 2019.

Hilton Garden Inn, Hilton Worldwide’s upscale brand of more than 675 hotels globally, is creating a large footprint in the Peruvian community, with three hotels underway. Hilton Garden Inn Lima Surco will consist of 71 guest rooms and will be the first international hotel in the Santiago de Surco district of Lima, Peru – an area very close to the Embassy of the United States of America.

Hilton Garden Inn Lima Miraflores will be a 250-room hotel, and Hilton Garden Inn/Homewood Suites by Hilton Lima San Isidro will be a dual-branded hotel with 280 rooms collectively: 180 Hilton Garden Inn rooms and 100 Homewood Suites rooms. This will mark the first dual-branded hotel outside of North America for these particular brands, and one of Homewood Suites first hotels in the region since the brand developed its Latin America and Caribbean prototype in 2015. These projects will be developed and owned by T&C Developments, and managed by Hilton Worldwide.

The 86-room Hampton by Hilton Tarapoto will offer guests a great base to experience the vast Amazon Rainforest, with its adventurous river rafting and hiking activities. Guests of the 94-guestroom Hampton by Hilton Trujillo, now under construction, will stay in the center of history, with vibrant colonial architecture, ancient temples and pre-Incan archeological sites. Both franchised properties will join Hampton’s global portfolio of more than 2,100 upper midscale hotels in 20 countries and territories. DoubleTree by Hilton, a collection of more than 460 hotels across six continents will open its third hotel in Peru.

The 65-room DoubleTree by Hilton Iquitos will be the first internationally branded hotel in the Iquitos area, which is a Peruvian Amazon port city known for its open-air street market, rustic homes and departure point for luxury boat cruises in the Amazon River. The franchised hotel will be a conversion of the Hotel Dorado. Hilton Worldwide currently has four hotels open and welcoming travelers in the country. They are the Hilton Lima Miraflores; the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Paracas—Peru; El Pardo DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and the Hilton Garden Inn Cusco.
