Hokkaido, Japan's Winter Wonderland

Hokkaido, Japan, a city outside Tokyo, is in full swing this winter season, offering travelers a bevy of snowy activities.

Niseko, a world-class ski resort, has opened for the season, showing off the newly renovated resort hotel, the Greenleaf Niseko Village. It offers 200 guest rooms, outdoor hot springs and access to the Niseko Village Ski Area.

Take a couple of hours to drive from Hokkaido's capital Sapporo to visit Tomamu Alpha Resort, which transforms into ice palace in the winter. Visit Ice Village, a hotel room built with crystal ice bricks. Snow Garden Cafe offers bonfires and s'more tables and Ice Bar provides a nice way to warm your insides with an alcoholic beverage.
