Hong Kong Hosts Record Number of Tourists

2011 was a record-breaking year for Hong Kong. According to News Republic, the destination welcomed almost 42 million visitors last year.

"The number of holiday makers to the city increased 16.4 percent from 2010 to 41.92 million, with about two-thirds coming from mainland China," according to a Hong Kong Tourism Board statement quoted in the article.

Tourism makes up about 3.4 percent of Hong Kong's economy.
