Three major hotel companies announced some important internal moves this week, and Travel Agent is here to break them all down. From a new general manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua to a new general manager at the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki and Golf Club, it's been a busy time for Hawaii hoteliers. Here's what you need to know. 

Prince Resorts Hawaii Announces Additions, Promotions to Sales Team

Prince Resorts Hawaii recently enhanced its leisure sales team with new appointments and promotions.

Ayumi White joined as director of sales and marketing for the Asia Pacific market; Cathy Bay was appointed to regional director of leisure sales; and Samantha Collins was promoted to director of sales at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Golf Course at the Mauna Kea Resort.

White has been appointed director of sales and marketing, Asia Pacific for all three Prince Resorts Hawaii properties: the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki and Golf Club on the island of Oahu, and on Hawaii Island, the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel and Golf Course and Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Golf Course at the Mauna Kea Resort on the Kohala CoastRelocating from Odawara, Japan, she will work closely with the Prince Resorts Hawaii marketing team to grow transient business in Asia markets.

Her extensive experience includes serving as director of sales and marketing with The Ritz Carlton Kyoto, ANA Crowne Plaza Hotel Osaka, Ishin Hotel Group and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in the Maldives and Shanghai.

Bay will be responsible for key leisure accounts in Canada, northern California, the Pacific Northwest, Alaska and the Northeast U.S. for all three Prince Resorts Hawaii properties.

Most recently, Bay held the title of regional sales marketing director for Oceania Cruises. Her 25 years of experience in selling Hawaii also includes Kona Village, All About Hawaii, Runaway Tours and Creative Leisure.

Collins will continue to oversee all domestic and non-Asia international leisure sales activities for all three Prince Resorts Hawaii properties, but also manage the on-site group sales, catering and convention services teams at Mauna Kea Resort. 

Collins previously served as director of leisure sales for all three Prince Resorts Hawaii and brings more than 10 years of hospitality experience garnered at Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc. and Fairmont Hotels and Resorts hotels in Hawaii.

mike kassRitz Carlton, Kapalua Names Mike Kass New General Manager

The Ritz Carlton, Kapalua has announced the appointment of Mike Kass to general manager of the luxury Maui resort located on the island’s northwest shore. 

Kass will be responsible for the oversight and function of all resort operations, and will confidently serve as head executive to management and hotel staff. 

Prior to his role as general manager, Kass served as hotel manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua since November 2014, where he oversaw the 463 rooms and suites; its restaurants, bars and related food and beverage activities; The Ritz-Carlton Spa, salon and fitness center; recreation programs; Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment; resort retail; banquets and catering; destination weddings; and property engineering and technology.

A veteran in the hospitality industry, Kass has more than 25 years of experience and has been with the Ritz Carlton brand since 2011. Before making the move to Maui, he served as hotel manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain in Arizona and the leader of the resort’s sales and marketing division. Among his achievements during his time there, Kass repositioned all property marketing, promoted the launch of The Dove Mountain Rangers Program, increased leisure and group sales, expanded the destination weddings program, and helped to grow top-line revenues for the property’s rooms, catering, food and beverage and spa divisions.

Kass will be at the helm of the resort’s multi-million-dollar renovation that is currently underway. The resort has just unveiled redesigned Residential Suites; a new beachfront restaurant The Burger Shack; all new lounge chairs, sunbeds and palapas at the expansive 10,000 square foot, three-tier swimming pool and 20,000 square foot sundeck; and an enhanced lobby lanai experience with fire pits, casual lounge seating and a brand new bar and cocktail menu.

Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki and Golf Club Announces New General Manager, Hotel Manager

Charles "Chuck" Abbott is the new general manager of the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki and Golf Club in Honolulu.

Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki and Golf Club in Honolulu recently announced the appointment of Charles “Chuck” Abbott as general manager and Randi Fernandez as hotel manager.

Abbott previously served as regional vice president for Starwood Hotels and Resorts and oversaw 31 hotels in Southeast Asia. A fixture at Starwood for 35 years, he has not only held the title of general manager at several properties, but has also held various operational positions at Starwood Hotels all over the world including the Sheraton and St. Regis in Macau, St. Regis Hotel in Shanghai, Westin Resort Guam, Westin Chosun Beach in Korea and Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles.

Fernandez brings over 16 years of hotel industry experience to Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki having worked for a variety of hotels in Hawaii and California including Hilton Hawaiian Village, JW Marriott Ihilani Ko Olina Resort & Spa, Four Seasons Resort Maui, Four Seasons Hotel Newport Beach, Four Seasons Aviara, San Diego, and, most recently, Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina.
