InterContinental Resort and Thalasso-Spa Bora Bora Opens

The InterContinental Resort and Thalasso-Spa Bora Bora opened May 1. The resort is the first in French Polynesia comprised solely of overwater bungalows, 80 in all. The new resort, which cost $70 million, is the brand's fourth in French Polynesia. Bungalows include living rooms with glass-bottomed coffee tables that serve as aquariums, as well as an external freshwater shower on the private terrace and large guest baths that open onto the lagoon. When the resort's Thalassotherapy Deep Ocean Spa by Algotherm opens in September, it will be the first in the world to use mineral-rich seawater gathered 2,500 feet below sea level in its signature treatments. September also will bring the opening of the resort's overwater wedding chapel, complete with glass-bottom floor. Visit [www.boraboraspa.interconti.com].
