InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has announced three European hotel openings slated for 2011 and 2012, offering enticing new properties in Porto, Moscow and London.
Opening July 2011, InterContinental Porto Palacios das Cardosas will be the first InterContinental hotel to open in Portugal. A renovated palace with luxury accommodations, the property is situated in the historic district of Liberty Square. We hear that the medieval city – named after the sweet wine produced in the region – offers travelers a classic-meets-contemporary atmosphere. Featuring 105 guestrooms, including Penthouse Suites, the new property boasts traditional architecture, especially Café Astoria, which has been restored to its original Belle Époque façade. In addition to housing a modern spa with spacious treatment rooms, a sauna and pool, the InterContinental Concierge team will also help guests organize activities like wine tastings, private tours of the Library Lello bookstore and wandering the city’s ancient streets, honored by the UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
Also opening in July 2011, the InterContinental Moscow Tverskaya will offer access to legendary attractions including the Bolshoi Theatre, the Old Moscow Circus and the Moscow Kremlin. The InterContinental Concierge program will include private tours of the Moscow Metro, an insider’s guide to the city’s culinary offerings and historic architectural tours. Designed as a “grand boutique” hotel, the InterContinental Moscow Tverskaya will house 203 guestrooms, including one spacious Presidential Suite with state-of-the-art amenities and sweeping views of the cityscape. The hotel’s signature restaurant will couple classic and contemporary Russian cuisine, while the exclusive Club InterContinental will serve as the sipping spot for light refreshments and cocktails.
Opening in 2012, the InterContinental London Westminster offers travelers a luxurious respite in the middle of the iconic city. Complementing InterContinental’s landmark property InterContinental London Park Lane, the InterContinental London Westminster is located within walking distance from the British capital’s popular main attractions, including Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, and St. James’s Park. Offering a high-concept restaurant and bar open late into the night, the hotel is an anticipated addition to the bustling metropolis.
