Visitors with a yen for history should pencil in some time to tour the Iolani Palace’s beautifully restored state apartments, including the Blue Room, State Dining Room and Throne Room, where King Kalkaua and his successor, Queen Liliuokalani, held lavish entertainments and conducted the diplomatic affairs of the kingdom.

The Palace Galleries showcase the royal crowns, diplomatic orders, and personal jewelry of the royal family. Visitors can also view the private living quarters of the royal family and listen to the story of Queen Liliuokalani’s imprisonment in an upstairs bedroom following the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy.
