Jamaica Gears Up for 2014 Caribbean Travel Marketplace; Forecast Calls for $1 Million Earning Potential

jamaicaRegistration for the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association's (CHTA) 2014 Caribbean Travel Marketplace (#CHTAMP2014) is on pace with the same timeframe for the 2013 edition of the event with the 2014 Marketplace already attracting 78 international buyer companies from 15 countries and 206 supplier companies from 27 countries for a total of 662 combined delegates pre-registered.  

Caribbean Travel Marketplace is the region's largest and most important marketing event and is scheduled for January 12-14, 2014 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Jamaica.

According to the Jamaica Gleaner, the CHTA is forecasting an initial earning potential of roughly $1 million from the staging of the show.

Speaking at a press briefing Tuesday morning at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in Kingston, CHTA chairman, Josef Forstmayr, said some 1,200 delegates were expected to converge on the tourism capital, generating a spend of $630,000 in hotel room charges over 3,500 room nights, according to the Jamaica Gleaner.

Buyer registration for Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2014 is currently highlighted by 78 tour operator companies from 15 countries including: Argentina, Bahamas, Canada, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Russia, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Caribbean Travel Marketplace affords hotels and destinations of all sizes the opportunity to meet face-to-face with wholesalers selling Caribbean vacation travelover the course of two days of business meetings.  Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2013 saw an increase in pre-scheduled business meetings between buyer and supplier companies with 12,476 appointments scheduled in advance which is 226 more appointments than the 2012 edition of the event.  

Buyer registration is $299 per person (after the third buyer delegate, the fee is reduced to $99 per additional delegate) and includes pre-scheduled appointments (if registration is received before Dec. 17), listing in the electronic Delegate Directory, opening cocktail reception, closing dinner, coffee breaks, entrance to all business and social functions, roundtrip airport/hotel transfers and shuttle bus service between host hotels and the Montego Bay Convention Centre.

Registered buyers can also take advantage of complimentary pre- and post-tours of Ocho Rios, Kingston, Negril and the South Coast offered by the Jamaica Tourist Board which includes ground transportation, hotel accommodations, full-activity program and meals per the itinerary.  For more information click here.

Supplier registration to-date is highlighted by 206 exhibitor companies from Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Curacao, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Jamaica, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Saint Barth's, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Martin, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos and U.S. Virgin Islands.

Supplier participation at Caribbean Travel Marketplace requires the purchase of a booth.  Supplier delegate registration is $429 per person and includes pre-scheduled appointments (if registration is received before Dec. 17), listing in the electronic Delegate Directory, opening cocktail reception, closing dinner, coffee breaks, entrance to all business and social functions, and shuttle bus service between host hotels and the Montego Bay Convention Centre.
