Japan's hotel scene is booming this year as both International and Japanese brands burst onto the scene.

Slated to debut October 22, the Capitol Hotel Tokyu will become the flagship property of Japan's Tokyu Hotels. The design can be described as contemporary yet functional. Guests will be greeted by Hie Shrine's garden as they approach the hotel entrance.

Kyoto will also be adding Hotel Kanra on October 28.

St. Regis Osaka will open its doors on October 1 on Midosuji Avenue, the prime shopping district in Osaka.

Other recent openings include the Best Western Sapporo Nakajima-Koen, which will open on October 1; Mitsui Garden Hotel Ueno, which opened on September 14; Westin Hotel Sendai, opened in August 2010; ANA Holiday Inn Sendai, renewed in July 2010; Mitsui Garden Hotel Sapporo, opened on June 2, 2010; and Citadines Kyoto Karasuma-Gojo, opened in March 2010. In 2011 we can expect to see the Royal Park Hotel the Kyoto.
