Joie de Vivre to Open Luxury Boutique Hotel in Sacramento

Joie de Vivre Hospitality on Wednesday announced that the name for its historic J Street luxury boutique hotel that will open next summer in Sacramento will be "The Citizen Hotel." The company says the name intends to capture the spirit of these words in a classic American, Jimmy Stewart kind of way. Centrally located in downtown Sacramento, The Citizen Hotel will make its home in the historic former Cal Western Life building on the corner of 10th and J Streets, and will have a mansard roof, high ceilings and marble walls. The 197-room property also will include 11,000 feet of meeting space, five luxury penthouses, a ballroom and a 3,000-square-foot terrace overlooking the state capitol.
