Kauai Golf Course to Reopen

Good news for golfers in Hawaii! Kauai’s Poipu Bay Golf Course is scheduled to reopen on December 16. The course has been closed since April 1 to undergo a comprehensive greens refurbishment project. The original Tifdwarf Bermuda grass has been removed, and greens have been replanted with a Sea Shore Paspalum hybrid (Supreme). The eco-friendly Sea Shore Paspalum will require less fertilizer and almost no herbicides for maintenance, and it is a very drought tolerant grass.

In addition to the greens project, Poipu Bay’s 21,000-square-foot Clubhouse is undergoing refurbishment, including locker room renovation, new carpeting, and repainting. The restaurant at the Clubhouse is closed; however, Poipu Bay’s award-winning Golf Shop remains open for business Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed on Sundays.

A Robert Trent Jones, Jr. design, Poipu Bay opened in 1991 and gained international recognition as home to the PGA Grand Slam of Golf from 1994 through 2006. The 18-hole course is situated on 210 oceanfront acres adjacent to the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa.
