‘LA Hawaiian Shirt Day’ Kicks off Friday; Sweepstakes Offers Chance for Free Honolulu Trip

hawaiian shirt dayIn honor of Hawaii Statehood Day, Allegiant Air and the Oahu Visitors Bureau name Friday, August 16 as the first annual Los Angeles Hawaiian Shirt Day. Angelenos are encouraged to come together to celebrate the day Hawaii became a state by wearing Hawaiian shirts and showing their Aloha spirit.

In celebration of the new holiday, Allegiant Air is holding a week-long sweepstakes to win a trip for two to Honolulu. Local businesses are also offering specials and discounts to those who show up in Hawaiian garb.

Allegiant Air is holding a sweepstakes on the official LA Hawaiian Shirt Day Facebook page, located at www.facebook.com/LAHawaiianShirtDay, to those supporting Hawaiian heritage by posting their photos and favorite Hawaii memories. By submitting a photo showing Hawaiian spirit, sweepstakes entrants will have the chance to win two roundtrip tickets and hotel accommodations courtesy of Allegiant Air and the Oahu Visitors Bureau.

Allegiant Air's new flight service and the 54th anniversary of Hawaii's statehood, brings the first annual LA Hawaiian Shirt Day on August 16. Shave Ice LA, Lono's Sweet Shop, Joe's Pizza and other local businesses will offer special deals on this day to any guest in Hawaiian attire to spread the spirit of Aloha.

Allegiant recently launched its non-stop service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Honolulu International Airport (HNL), which will operate twice weekly starting in October.
