Las Vegas may be known for debauched misadventures and decadent bachelor(ette) parties, but visitors looking for a relaxing girlfriend getaway have plenty of affordable and luxurious options to choose from.

Since opening in February 2010, the Ravella at Lake Las Vegas in nearby Henderson has welcomed guests looking for a more natural reprieve from the glitz and glimmer of the Las Vegas Strip. The 349-room-and-suite resort is 17 miles from the Strip and includes a 30,000-square-foot spa, fitness center and salon designed in the classic Mediterranean style, with impressive views of the lake and mountains surrounding the city.

“Girlfriends go out to Lake Las Vegas because the Ravella has a good rate, $159 including breakfast, and various other enticements,” says Mary Noyes, owner of A Touch of Class Travel in Las Vegas. The Ravella is also the former home of the Ritz-Carlton and attracts many of the female guests that resort would traditionally draw.

The property has two marinas, affording guests the opportunity to boat, kayak and fish at their leisure. The hotel itself has been renovated to provide a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of modern Vegas.

The Loews Lake Las Vegas resort is another great choice with the girls, particularly if there are golfers in the mix. The 493-room resort draws players to Las Vegas’ first private Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. “The Loews is a nice hotel and you can walk to the nearby casino,” says Noyes. With the hotel’s Loews Suite Deal, guests receive free Internet and access to the fitness center at a discount.

On the Strip

In Las Vegas proper, the Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa has 35,000 square feet of spa space with treatments that promote relaxation and exercise. For the more outdoorsy groups, guests can hike, bike and go horseback riding around the famous Red Rock Canyon. The resort’s relaxation package includes a one-night stay and two spa treatments for $299 on weekends.
