We just got back from Las Vegas, where we checked out on the progress of the myriad projects under development. Here is what's on tap for 2008 alone. The first round of mega-resort openings will kick off with the Palazzo, a $1.9 billion sister property to the Venetian. The 3,025-suite resort was slated to debut in late December with a soft opening, with a grand opening event scheduled for mid-January.

A new 47-story tower at the Palms will house 599 condominium suites when it opens in early 2008. It will have studios as well as one- and two-bedroom suites, plus a 50,000-square-foot pool and spa complex.

The folks at Wynn Las Vegas hope to have their newest resort, Encore, opened in time to ring in 2009. The $1.7 billion property is just about to be topped off. (GH)
