Las Vegas Most Popular Amongst U.S. Travelers

Americans have a wild side, according to the latest hotels.com Hotel Price Index. It showed Las Vegas, Sin City, as the number one favorite domestic destination amongst U.S. travelers in the first half of 2009. Following closely behind were San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and Seattle.

"The Western region of the U.S. especially in Nevada, is offering travelers deals and packages like we've never seen before," Steve Dumaine, senior director of merchandising at hotels.com said.

The survey also showed that Vegas hotels are on average $82 a night with rates dropping by 30 percent.
