Las Ventanas Completes Major Spa Enhancement

Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort has completed a major enhancement of its spa, creating one of the most distinctive spas in Mexico.

Highlighting the additions and improvements at The Spa & Salon at Las Ventanas are a cutting-edge salon offering a full range of services; doubling the number of treatment cabanas to eight, including adding two for couples; an elegant and welcoming spa lobby; a signature custom scent created exclusively for Las Ventanas; a menu of signature treatments and all-natural spa product lines, available in a new boutique and more.

The spa has been re-imagined as an indoor-outdoor experience in a verdant and tranquil setting. This was achieved by planting 45 areca and date palms, whose spreading fronds create a dense, green canopy, and by using thatched palapas and latilla screens for shade and walls of vegetation for privacy.

Creating an evocative sense of arrival is the new spa lobby with a rock fountain (the first rock removed from the site when construction of the resort began in 1996), comfortable seating areas ringed by palm trees and a reception desk – all under a large palapa.

The treatment cabanas offer an outdoor shower and a private terrace and garden, allowing guests to enjoy treatments indoors and/or outdoors. Four of the cabanas were added, while the four existing ones were completely redone. The two new cabanas for couples also feature an outdoor, jetted tub for two, enabling couples to have an extended experience combining treatments and relaxation.

The new salon is equipped with the latest high-tech equipment and decor. A dramatic black floor with inlaid-tile designs, juxtaposed with dynamic contemporary art works, imbue the ambiance with energy and verve. Manicures and pedicures are enjoyed in relaxing zero-gravity chairs, allowing guests to comfortably lay back or stretch out rather than only sit. Two facial rooms feature specially designed facial tables, waxing and other salon services.

Integrated in the sophisticated Teknowash Plus hair-washing chair are synchronized electrical movement of the seat, backrest and leg rest; Air-Shiatsu massage system; chromotherapy (color and light sequences to balance “energy”) and an iPod sound system. The two hair stations, offering full make-up as well as hair-styling services, have the most advanced salon chairs from Italy. Adding a complete salon was a top request of many guests who want to look their best for weddings, bridesmaids’ parties or a romantic dinner under the stars.

A serene, circular solarium offers comfortable lounge chairs where guests, under the shade of a palapa, enjoy pre- and post-treatment relaxation to the beautiful harmonic tones of crystal bowls.

The spa’s look and décor remain true to the original style of Las Ventanas, including the hand-troweled exterior walls in a desert-sand color, wood and wrought-iron furniture in earthy pastels, and special touches hand-crafted by Mexican artisans such as the salon floor. The resort’s core design motif – curving walls and spaces that echo the “curves of a woman” – flows through the revamped spa, from the salon walls to the rotund design of the spa lobby.

The new Spa Boutique carries all of the products and accessories used at the spa, from essential oils and scrubs to robes and sandals. Remodeled, separate men and women’s areas offer digital lockers, luxuriously appointed vanities, saunas, hot and cold hydrotherapy pools and steam rooms.

The addition of a new menu of signature treatments is highlighted by Flor de Luna (Flower of the Moon). It introduces the spa’s Moonflower Body Scrub, made from the sweet dragon fruit that blooms under the moon in Baja, exclusively handcrafted for Las Ventanas by Escencia of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Subtly infusing the spa is a new signature custom scent – a blend evoking the indigenous natural flora of the area with a touch of citrus – that was created especially for Las Ventanas by Ajne, the noted Carmel, California-based creator of organic scents.

The all-natural main product lines now being used at the spa are Tata Harper (skin and facial products); Kahina (products using organic argan oil); Priori (anti-aging skincare products) and Oribe and Davines (hair products).
